India - Anugrah Project

Partner: Herbertpur Christian Hospital (2006 - 2012)

The aim of the project is to develop the strengths of children with physical and mental disabilities and to bring about their acceptance in their families, in their communities and in society at large.

The work involves: undertaking a complete assessment and developing an individual case plan for children with physical and mental disabilities; equipping the community activity centre to function as the early intervention centre; and forming a Parents Support group comprising of parents of children with a disability. Other activities include training 10 animators to work with parents on a regular basis and. Further development of the community facilitator already working with the project and the identification and development of one more community facilitator is also a project aim.
